Join Us At This Year’s Conference And Get Your Life Back.
As we welcome back faculty members who have been with us at previous conferences, and new faculty members, many of whom will present on new topics, we wanted to keep you informed about what you can expect to learn when you join us.
We’ll start with the morning of Friday, August 9; here is a list of faculty members and some of what we’ve asked them to talk about (please keep in mind this isn’t the full agenda—for more information, visit the conference webpage here):
Emelia Benjamin, MD: Afib and Risk Factors
Dr. Benjamin will talk about afib risk factors such as underlying heart disease, endurance exercise, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, thyroid conditions, and autoimmune diseases. She will also discuss genetics and the prevention of afib.
Jodie Hurwitz, MD: Gender, Ethnicity, and Lifestyle in Afib
Dr. Hurwitz will discuss gender differences in afib, including what is different for women related to stroke risk and blood thinners, and what women and their doctors should know. She’ll also talk about ethnic differences, sleep apnea, and stress and other lifestyle issues as they relate to afib.
Peter Kowey, MD: Rate and Rhythm Control Medications
Dr. Kowey will talk about the specific rate and rhythm control medications and how your doctor decides which ones to prescribe for you. He’ll also talk about which medications may not work for specific patient groups (such as those with heart disease, heart failure, or asthma) and the differences in treating different types of afib.
Eric Prystowsky, MD: Sinus Rhythm: Bridge to the Future
Dr. Prystowsky will discuss why sinus rhythm is so important for afib patients over the long term and what you and your doctor will consider in deciding on what treatments are right for you.
Every year, we strive to ensure the Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.® Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference is as informative and useful as possible … and that it gives attendees the confidence to work effectively with their doctors so they can get the best care.
This year is no exception, and as we welcome our faculty members and refine the topics they’ll present, we’re so excited to welcome you, too.
