ROCHESTER, MN – Rochester residents will be seeing red this February as the Go Red For Women luncheon returns to town. The American Heart Association successfully launched the event last year in an effort to raise awareness and necessary funds to fight cardiovascular disease, the number on killer of American women. The luncheon, which is expected to draw more than 750 women this year, will be held on Saturday February 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center. The Association hopes to raise $80,000.00 dollars for local cardiovascular research and educational programs.
Mellanie True Hills, heart disease survivor and author of A Woman’s Guide to Saving Her Own Life: The HEART Program for Health & Longevity, will share life lessons with attendees as the luncheon’s keynote speaker. After having a brush with death in emergency heart surgery, Mellanie now uses her second chance to coach individuals in creating healthy lifestyles and organizations in creating healthy, productive workplaces.
Rochester women will also enjoy free health screenings, health exhibits and seminars including “Re-Fashioning Your Closet – Reduce your “Dress” Stress,” “How to Communicate with Your Doctor,” and “Healthy Tips for Party Planning.” National sponsor Macy’s will be on site to offer makeovers to Go Red guests; and a silent auction and a heart healthy lunch will round out the event.
Tickets for the Go Red for Women luncheon cost $35 for one and $50 for two. For more information about the event or to purchase tickets, please contact Debbie Eddy at 507-356-2805 or [email protected].
