- Reading time: 2–3 minutes
We’re so honored that Douglas L. Packer, MD, will join us for the fifth time at this year’s Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.® Virtual Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference. Each year, we hear from attendees who found his presentations invaluable…and humorous.
Dr. Packer was the third recipient of our Eric N. Prystowsky Advocate for Patients Award, because of his dedication to those living with afib.
Dr. Packer is the Director of the Heart Rhythm Services and Director of the Translational Electrophysiology Research Laboratory at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is the former president of the Heart Rhythm Society, and a member of their Board of Trustees.
Not only has he served on editorial boards for several influential publications, but he has also written or co-authored more than 280 publications. He has lectured extensively in national and international meetings, giving more than 1,400 invited lectures in 37 countries. He also served on the executive committees of a number of National Institute of Health multicenter randomized clinical trials.
Dr. Packer is a true leader in afib; other doctors look up to him and seek his expertise, and our attendees, those living with afib and their families, have raved about him and his invaluable presentations year after year. His talks are fun and informative.
On Saturday, October 31, Dr. Packer will discuss what the CABANA Trial, of which he was the International Principal Investigator, told us about the future of catheter ablation.
He’ll share what CABANA told us about treatment with medications vs. catheter ablation, and the safety, complications, and quality of life from each. He will talk about how catheter ablation outcomes can vary by age and underlying medical conditions.
