Found the interview with Dr. John Mandrola very interesting . I would be interested to know. Are ablations more successful on younger men and women eg. under age 50. If the first ablation is unsuccessful ,why would you repeat the procedure ?

There is no indication that ablations are more successful in younger people because of age. But younger people probably have less advanced afib, making it easier to stop.
It’s not at all unusual to need more than one catheter ablation, for a whole bunch of reasons–incomplete lines, reconnection of the pulmonary veins, not locating all the afib sites the first time, sites acting up later that didn’t act up during the procedure, and many more reasons.
