The Heartline Study is a heart-health study from Johnson & Johnson in collaboration with Apple.
The study aims to determine if an app-based heart health engagement program combined with an Apple Watch can help with earlier detection of atrial fibrillation.
In addition, the study includes a heart-health engagement program paired with medication adherence tools for those with afib who are on blood thinners (oral anticoagulants). The aim is to determine if these interventions can help participants live a heart healthy life and manage their medication intake.
The study is looking for patients age 65 or more with an iPhone and Medicare coverage to participate. By doing so, you may earn monetary rewards.

Please go here to learn more about the study and how to enroll: https://www.stopafib.org/afib-news-events/news/heartline-study-virtual-heart-health-study-atrial-fibrillation-afib-medicare/ That page says, “If you’re asked to be in the study group that wears an Apple Watch, you’ll be able to purchase a watch at a study-specific price or borrow one for the duration of the study. “
I wear my Apple Watch ⌚️ 24×7 and check the ECG often.

The part of the study for those with an Apple Watch is full.
I’ve had a fib for over 25 years and only take aspirin as a blood thinner.

The study does require that you be on a blood thinner.
I’m a 76-year-old female with chronic Afib. I’m interested in the study, but I’m not sure I qualify since it sounds as if you’re looking for people who only have episodes of it. Mine has been chronic for several years, and I’ve been on Eliquis all that time. I have an iPhone 7 running iOS 15.6.1 and an Apple watch.
The part of the study for those who already have an Apple Watch is full.
i have had ablations on the left and right side. I take 125mcg Dofetilide. My PAF is driven by my Vegus Nerve.

I have Paroxysmal AFib rarely. However, I am happy to be a participant in a research study if I qualify. I last had AFib that I documented on my Kardia device in Jan 2020. I believe I can feel the change in my heartbeat whenever I have it, but don’t have it any other time. I was in Afib for less than 3 hours. When I put on a clean pair of pajamas and twisted my body slightly to put my arm in the pajama top, I suddenly went back into NSR. I have not had any AFib since.

Cathy, If an Apple Watch is already registered on your phone, then you would not be eligible.
I am 80 years old and have been diagnosed with a-fib for 20 yrs. I have an iPhone SE and I am on Medicare. I was on eliquis but I no longer have to take blood thinner because I underwent the Watchman procedure earlier this year. I am interested in learning more about the study and want to join.
Bill, Thank you, but the study requires being on an anticoagulant.
