Dr. Ralph Damiano: Indications for Afib Surgery and Open Chest Maze
Dr. Damiano will give an overview of the open-chest Maze procedure, both done standalone (for afib only) and done alongside another heart procedure such as valve repair or bypass. He will talk about when surgery is appropriate, who is a good candidate, and what to expect before, during, and after the procedure.
Dr. Randall Wolf: Mini Maze, Convergent, and Hybrid Procedures
Dr. Wolf will discuss the mini maze procedure, convergent procedure, and hybrid procedures, as well as who is a candidate for these procedures and the typical results from each. He will talk about what to expect before, during, and after these procedures, as well as what to consider if you’re traveling to have a procedure.
Dr. Hugh Calkins: What Do the Afib Guidelines Tell Us About Treatment?
The guidelines are what your doctors use to determine your treatment. Dr. Calkins will share what afib patients need to know about the most recent afib and ablation guidelines, and the potential impact the CABANA Trial (and other trials) may have on these guidelines.
How to Choose the Right Procedures Panel
This panel of electrophysiologists and surgeons — Doctors Hugh Calkins, David Callans, Ralph Damiano, Mark Link, Andrea Natale, Doug Packer, and Randall Wolf — will discuss patient-provided cases to illustrate how they think about choosing the right procedure.
This session is always very informative, because the discussion is around real-world examples from people in the room. The doctors may not all agree (and frequently don’t) but will share their reasoning with you so you know how to decide what is best for you.
Although we can’t promise our panel members will discuss your specific case, we invite you to submit your case for their review. They may select it to talk about during this panel discussion. Attendees of past conferences have told us that this panel alone was worth thousands of dollars to them, and many found their answers during this discussion.
Once you’ve registered, we will reach out to you with details about how to submit your case.
Even if they don’t select your case, I’m confident you’ll hear something useful (and probably lots of useful things) during this panel discussion.
